PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective fence to be set on a mountain slope, capable of absorbing the energy of a falling stone without depending on the swelling of a net body and thus being arranged adjacently to a structure such as road or railroad. SOLUTION: This protective fence comprises a plurality of struts raised at prescribed intervals on the mountain side along a structure, a wire rope 3 for connecting an anchor 9 fixed to a natural ground 5 to the head part of the strut, and a net body laid between the struts and fixed to the struts. In this protective fence, the net body is formed of a highly strong wire gauze 2 hardly deformable by the impact by a falling stone or the like, and the strut 1 receives the impact by the falling stone transmitted from the wire gauze 2 and absorbs its energy.
