PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a process by-product by which it is possible to effectively recover an oil content in a PCB dechlorination decomposition process, and decrease the volume of oil-containing salts and further, reduce the disposal volume of industrial waste with almost no effluence of waste water. SOLUTION: When PCBs contained in a solvent oil are subjected to a dechlorination decomposition process, by-product salts are physically separated as oil-containing salts to which an oil content sticks, and the separated oil- containing salts are heated, so that the oil content sticking to the salts is vaporized. The vaporized oil content is recovered by heating the oil-containing salts and the treated oil is reused. In addition, the treated oil can be reused in the dechlorination decomposition process.
