PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for stencil printing which enable printing of 500 sheets or more even when thick paper is used as an object of printing, and further enable printing of 5,000 sheets or more even when paper having much unevenness and stiffness is used. SOLUTION: An apparatus 55 for stencil printing has a plate cylinder 56 having an ink supply means 6 inside and an open hole part 56b in the outer peripheral surface, a paper feeding means 27 which can feed thick paper P such as carton, a postcard and an envelope as an object of printing, a plate making means 10, a pressing means 18 and a control means 60. The control means having a thick paper mode to be selected on the occasion of using the thick paper P as the object of printing makes the plate making means 10 operate when the thick paper mode is selected, to perforate a master 16 in conformity with an image to be printed on the thick paper P, makes the plate making means 10 operate again after the master 16 is wound on a plate cylinder 56, to perforate the master 16 corresponding to the whole area of the open hole part 56b, and makes this master 16 wound on the preceding master 16.
