PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a closed forging apparatus having simple structure and small energy loss. SOLUTION: In the closed forging apparatus which performs forging by closing a forming chamber 31 formed in the mating surface parts of an upper and a lower dies 43, 30 by bringing both dies 43, 30 in press contact, a closing device 33 for closing the forming chamber 31 supports at least the die 30 with a supporting plate 24 so as to be vertically movable. A number of compressive deformable elastic bodies 37 are arranged in parallel between the outer peripheral part of the supporting plate 24 and the outer peripheral part of the die 30 and the pressurized contact force of the upper and the lower dies 43, 30, generated by these elastic bodies 37 is used for the pressurized contact force needed to the closed forging.
