PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method of a manhole capable of largely shortening an execution work period and capable of sharply reducing the occupying area and an occupying period of a road when arranging a large manhole such as a cable connecting manhole in the ground. SOLUTION: A hole having the size capable of burying a precast concrete manhole having the standard size is cut open in the ground, and after backfilling an open-cut hole by burying the manhole in this open-cut hole, a propelling device is arranged in the expanding direction in the manhole by equipment and materials carried in from the neck part, a cylindrical steel box is assembled, this steel box is arranged on the propelling device by turning an opening part of the steel box in the expanding direction, the expanding directional manhole is broken down before or after arranging the propelling device and assembling the steel box, the inside is excavated while propelling the steel box by the propelling device, and after excavating the hole by the prescribed length, bar arrangement is applied to this excavated hole, a form is installed, concrete is placed in this form, and the form is removed thereafter.
