PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer capable of achieving the speed-up of printing, lap typing, the enhancement of printing resolution and the enhancement of the efficiency of printing such as simultaneous printing of different kinds of data or double-side printing. SOLUTION: Printing is applied to a recording paper 2 by scanning by the reciprocating motion of an ink carriage 5 along a support shaft 1. The ink carriage has an ink head having front ink nozzles 4a... and back ink nozzles 4b... in two directions in order to apply printing to two places at the same time with respect to the recording paper 2 fed along a single feed route successively one by one.
