PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage container for a raw material capable of detecting the quality of a solid raw material or a liquid raw material kept in the container and displaying the detected result and further, adjusting the quantity of the raw material on the basis of the detected result. SOLUTION: The container is provided with a storage container 1 keeping an extracting or dissolving solid raw material such as coffee, tea leaves, or a liquid raw material having a smell, a smell sensor 3 fitted to the upper part of the storage container, and a means 5 detecting the change of the smell of the solid raw material or the liquid raw material in the storage container in time series and calculating and indicating a necessary quantity of the raw material on the basis of the detected result.
