PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for simulation of wear of electrode in a plasma arc cutting machine, by which the life of the electrode can be correctly predicted and an optimum exchange time can be acquired. SOLUTION: Prior to cutting work, the relation between a cutting length and a piercing number of times and the electrode wear depth per one time pierce work at that time for various cutting conditions is acquired in advance, and it is memorized in a data file 14 for an arithmetic operation of wear quantity as data for the arithmetic operation of the wear quantity. Before actual work, the arithmetic operation part 13 for the wear reads the arithmetic operation data for the wear quantity conforming to the cutting condition of the cutting work from the data file 14 for the arithmetic operation for the wear quantity, the operation part 13 records how many mm of the cutting length of the work has been made in what number of the pierce work; besides, the wear of the electrode in each work is accumulated, and the wear of the electrode is calculated.
