New antitumour alkaloids of general formula (I) where R<1> is hydrogen, alkyl or acyl and R<2> is hydrogen or acyl, include jorumycin, where R<1> is hydrogen and R<2> is acetyl, extracted from the mollusc Jorunna funebris.
