PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-layer film for packaging food best suited for top sealing-type pillow packaging which shows high low-temperature shrink properties, high transparency and glossiness and superb tear strength and further, high heat resistance, without fear about melting of film during heating by a microwave over or heat-sealing. SOLUTION: This multi-layer film for packaging food comprises at least five layers consisting of both surface layers of a specific ethylene resin, an intermediate layer of a resin composition containing a polypropylene resin and a low crystalline ethylene-α-olefin copolymer and at least one adhesive layer, formed of a specific ethylene resin other than the described ethylene resin, which is present between the former two layers. In addition, the haze is 1% or less and the gloss is 140% or more. Further, both degrees of longitudinal and crosswise heat shrinkage at 100 deg.C are 40% or more and both longitudinal and crosswise tear strengths are 4 kg/cm or more. Further, the longitudinal shrinkage stress is 30 kg/cm2 or less. The described specifications are essential for obtaining this film.
