PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a primer composition curable in a short time, free from any danger due to on-site handling of hazardous materials such as a peroxide catalyst and also free from any trouble involved in pot life, and exhibiting high adhesive force to metals including iron and stainless steel, and to provide a method for curing the composition. SOLUTION: This primer composition for metals comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. of radical-polymerizable unsaturated compound(s) comprising one or more kinds selected from unsaturated polyester resins, vinyl ester resins and urethane acrylate resins, (B) 1-20 pts.wt. of an acidic compound, (C) 0.01-10 pts.wt. of a photopolymerization initiator having photosensitivity in any region ranging from ultraviolet region to near-infrared region, and optionally, (D) 0.1-20 pts.wt. of a thixotropic agent.
