PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the hindrance to a synthetic reaction caused by foaming phenomena on the manufacture of conventional cobalt metallic soap without using a defoaming agent. SOLUTION: In this method for manufacturing metallic soap, cobalt hydroxide and a fatty acid are reacted in an organic solvent and, therein, the cobalt hydroxide having average grain size of <=5μm is used.
