PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a microporous film inexpensively made proof against alkali elution and being utilizable as a waterproof material, a waterproof cover, a sanitary material, a packaging material, or the like. SOLUTION: This film is prepared by uniaxially or biaxially orienting a film made from a polyolefin resin composition prepared by dispersing 60-300 pts.wt. fine inorganic particles coated with a metal oxide mixture containing at least 10 mol% zirconium oxide in 100 pts.wt. polyolefin resin. Desirably, the fine inorganic particles are calcium carbonate particles. The polyester resin used is exemplified by a high-density polyethylene, a linear low-density polyethylene, a branched low-density polyethylene, a polypropylene, or an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer.
