PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diamond rotary dresser capable of displaying a stable dressing performance without causing the difference in the characteristics of wear due to the direction of a diamond. SOLUTION: In order for a columnar gaseous phase synthetic diamond or a columnar polycrystalline sintered diamond to be stably placed in a mount- metal made of steel etc., as a columnar diamond, a projection part serving as a guide, or a groove part is provided, and the columnar diamond is fixed thereby a conductive adhesive. Then, the columnar diamond, the conductive adhesive, and the neighboring mount-metal part are embedded by nickel plating to form a diamond layer as a diamond rotary dresser.
