PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for climbing and coming down from a tree capable of dealing with change in diameter of a tree during climbing and coming down from the tree by a simple operation and safely climbing and coming down from the tree. SOLUTION: This tool comprises a combination of a seat frame 1 equipped with a seat part 10, a holding means 14 capable of holding the tree T ahead the seat part 10 and a contact part 15 to be brought into contact with the opposing side of the tree T below the seat part 10 with a footstep frame 2 equipped with a footstep part 20, a foot side holding means 24 capable of holding the tree T ahead the footstep part 20 and a foot side contact part 25 to be brought into contact with the opposing side of the tree T below the footstep part 20. At least the foot side holding means 24 of the footstep frame 2 is slidably adjustable in position in a stepless manner and is installed on a movable base 21 fixable in a desired slide position. The movable base 21 is moved and an interval between the foot side holding means 24 and the foot side contact part 25 is adjusted to deal with change in diameter of the tree T.
