PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for joining members by stud welding by which thermal deformation or the like of a plate-like base material is effectively prevented in welding time and an unnecessary finishing work is avoided. SOLUTION: Welding is performed as a metallic plate-like base material 1, to which the stud material 2 is welded, is cooled. Thus a recessed part caused by solidification and shrinkage is prevented from occurring in the welding time on the surface 1b opposite to the joint surface of the plate-like base material and the joint surface side of the plate-like base material 1 is prevented from deforming in a step, and a post treatment work is not required as a result.
