PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a platen of an ink jet printer from staining with ink. SOLUTION: The platen 25 of an ink jet printer is provided with ink suction openings 62a-62e which are then filled with absorbers 64a-64e. At the time of printing a cut line, a recording head 9 ejects ink at the position of the ink suction openings 62a-62e regardless of the width of a print sheet 50. Ink ejected to a position where the print sheet 50 is not present is absorbed by the absorbers 64a-64e. |
