PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbonization furnace by which anyone can easily burn charcoal of good quality. SOLUTION: A carbonization furnace comprises a carbonization chamber of an almost cylindrical shape that an upper face and a bottom face are arranged in before and behind directions, respectively and a pedestal section having a greater outer diameter than the carbonization chamber, a part of the cylindrical face of the chamber being cut open to be open-close feasible opening which is used for receipt of a material to be carbonized and for taking out carbide, a fire hole having an open-close plate being provided on the upper face and a fume section to discharge inner smoke being provided on the bottom face, a fire grate being provided inside the carbonization chamber, the chamber being surrounded on all sides by an enclosing plate on the pedestal section, and an inorganic powdered material being used as a thermal insulating material of the chamber.
