The use is disclosed of one or more of (a) a polyquaternary compound, (b) a thickening agent or dispersing agent, (c) a nonionic surfactant having from 3 to 12 alkylene oxide, preferably ethylene oxide, units, and (d) a simple quaternary compound in an amount at least equal to the amount of isothiazolone in the solution, to prevent stripping of isothiazolone in an isothiazolone-containing solution used as an anti-sapstain agent in wood treatment, where the solution is recurrently contacted with wood.
