PURPOSE: A rotary angle sensor for a rotary member is provided which reduces facility cost and saves space. CONSTITUTION: A rotary angle sensor for a rotary member, such as a wheel for a motor vehicle, is provided with an emitter, a plurality of reflectors arranged in planar fashion in the ring-shaped cylindrical plane of the rotary member or a rotational part which is rotated together with the rotary member during operation, and a light to be reflected by the reflectors which is received by a detector and emitted by the emitter. A correspondence signal to be evaluated at an evaluating device for detecting the angle of rotation is generated by the detector. A reflector(2) are arranged along the perimeter of a cylindrical surface(5) of pivoted part(7) rotating with a rotor, so as to reflect the light emitted from an emitter. An evaluation device(4) is connected to the detector(3) which receives the reflected light, for identifying the rotational angle of the rotor.
