PURPOSE: To suppress heat generation in pulsatively driving the magnetic head coil of a magneto-optical recording device. CONSTITUTION: A signal TRDET which has an H level when the magnetization inversion of data is present and an L level when it is not present is generated by data inversion detecting means 41 to 44. Moreover, means 45 to 47 which reduce exciting energy using this signal TRDET generate a strobe signal STRB which shortens an H-level period when the magnetization inversion of the data is present and makes the period a normal H-level period when it is not present. Then, the magnetic head coil is energized only in a period when the strobe signal STRB is at an H level to generate magnetic fields to be impressed on a magneto-optical recording medium in pulsative form.
