PURPOSE: An EL display device and a fabricating method thereof are provided to fabricate a highly precise EL display device at a less fabricating cost. CONSTITUTION: After forming a positive electrode, a luminescent layer and a negative layer on a substrate alkali metal elements or alkaline earth metal elements are selectively added to form electron transport regions(106a,106c). In case that voltage is applied to the resulting structure at a desired level, the luminescent layer will emit light only at portions where the electron transport regions were formed. Therefore, a desired image display can be achieved.
