PURPOSE:To obtain the titled porous catalyst which is highly reproducible and highly resistant to mechanical friction by homogeneously dispersing the catalytic component of noble metals, etc., in the substrate of a porous gel obtained by hydrolyzing a metallic alkoxide. CONSTITUTION:In the combustion catalyst used for a combustion reaction in an instrumental analyzer or exhaust gas from a automobile, a metallic alkoxide such as tetrathoxysilane and triethoxyaluminum is hydrolyzed to obtain a porous gel, the obtained gel is used as the substrate, and the catalytic component of noble metals such as gold and silver and the noble metal compd. is homogeneously dispersed on the surface and the inside of the gel. Consequently, since the fine particles of the catalytic component coexistent during the formation of the gel are increasingly filled in the reticular structure of the gel, the catalytic component is present in the gel as well as on the surface of the gel, and a porous catalyst which is highly reproducible and highly resistant to mechanical friction can be obtained. |
