PURPOSE: An actuator for a pickup is provided to increase effective portion of a driving coil while reducing weight of a lens holder for improving control speed of focusing operation and tracking operation in the lens holder. CONSTITUTION: Focusing operation of a lens holder(120) is performed by current flowing through focusing coils(136c,136d) and magnetic force in second magnets(134c,134d) and second yokes(132c,132d). Tracking operation of the lens holder is performed by current flowing through tracking coils(136a,136b) and magnetic force in first magnets(134a,134b) and first yokes(132a,132b). Herein, the focusing coils are arranged on required portions while facing the second magnets. Thus, the focusing operation is performed by using shorter focusing coils. Moreover, the tracking coils are installed on inner walls of the lens holder while facing the first magnets to improve using efficiency of the coil.
