PURPOSE: To improve efficiency by reducing the copper loss in the stator coil, which is the largest loss in an AC generator of a vehicle by optimizing the balance of the ratio of the outer diameter of a rotor and that of a stator. CONSTITUTION: In the AC generator of a vehicle, a permanent magnet is arranged between the nail shaped magnetic poles of the AC generator for a vehicle with nail shaped magnetic pole structure, the ratio of the outer diameter of a rotor and that of a stator is set to less than 0.73, and the copper loss is drastically reduced in the stator coil.
