The invention relates to a valve, especially a radiator valve for hot water heating systems. The inventive valve comprises a housing (1), two supply channels (2, 3) for the inlet and the outlet, a valve seat (4) and a spring-loaded closing member (5) that is actuated from the exterior and that covers the valve seat (4). Said closing member (5) has a piston (9) on the side facing away from the valve seat (4). Said piston sealingly extends into a cylinder chamber (10) whose effective pressure surface substantially equals the surface enclosed the by the valve seat (4). The cylinder chamber (10) communicates with the space within the valve seat (4). The valve is also provided with a zone (12) in which the cross-section of the closing member (5) increases towards the valve seat (4). An annular flange (13) is provided at the free end of the piston (9), partially overlaps said zone (12) and is subject to the pressure acting upon the zone (12). Accordingly, the valve can be used for both directions of flow. |
