PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-asbestos friction material prepared by molding and curing a non-asbestos friction material composition essentially comprising a fiber substrate, a binder and a filler, wherein a rubber composite material particle which essentially comprises at least one fibrous material and a rubber, or a rubber composite material particle which essentially comprises at least one fibrous material, at least one hard particle and a rubber, is added to the non-asbestos friction material composition. SOLUTION: Since the fibrous material does not form lumps and the hard fibrous material and the hard particle are uniformly dispersed and mixed without segregating, the non-asbestos friction material effectively brings out the performance of each components and therefore shows an excellent friction performance.
