PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antifouling agent made of a high-molecular compound which is suitable as an agent for preventing the adhesion of marine organisms, has excellent and durable action as the antifouling agent even if the agent does not contain metal ions and can have various dosage forms in combination with various components, and tools and materials. SOLUTION: The antifouling agent comprises 2-vinylimidazole polymer as an active component which is present as an complex with at least one kind of metal selected from the group consisting of zinc, copper and silver. The 2-vinylimidazole polymer is preferably a crosslinked 2-vinylimidazole polymer.
