PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device, which improves display quality by reducing parallax and reduces the manufacturing cost by simplifying the construction, and an electronic instrument provided with the liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device is equipped with a pair of flexible substrate units 13, 14, a liquid crystal layer 15 held between the substrate units and a polarizing plate 16 attached to the one substrate unit 13 out of the pair of the substrate units. The device is characterized by having the substrate unit equipped with a substrate main body 17 composed of a resin film and at least one is characterized by having the substrate unit equipped with a substrate main body 17 composed of a resin film and at least, one protective layer 24 formed on at least one surface of a substrate main body and a built-in reflection layer 31 on the liquid crystal side of the substrate unit 14.
