PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matte optical film having an enhanced display grade without lowering display luminance. SOLUTION: The matte optical film has a hard coat layer 2 on a transparent substrate 1 and the hard coat layer 2 contains inorganic fine particles surface- treated with a silane coupling agent, a crosslinked binder polymer and monodisperse transparent fine particles having a larger average particle diameter than the thickness of the hard coat layer and a particle size distribution with a coefficient of variation of <=0.2.
