<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video encoder that employs a motion vector retrieval processing, that can decrease errors and reduce the arithmetic quantity in image communication for mobile terminals. SOLUTION: Sensors 602, 603 that can sense the moving direction are fitted to a camera 601 or the encoder itself, and a retrieval range of a motion vector is limited to a range with higher possibility of the existence of the motion vector. The motion vector is retrieved fully from the limited range to prevent increase in the retrieval error. The range reverse to the moving direction of the camera or the like is adopted for the motion vector retrieval range with respect to the control employing the moving direction. The arithmetic quantity required for calculating the motion vector can be reduced to 1/2-1/4 of conventional full range retrieval methods.</p> |
