PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device which is high in color purity and luminous efficiency, has a long lifetime, and emits light in a red color system, and also to provide a novel compound therefor. SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent device includes at least one organic layer interposed between a pair of electrodes. The organic layer contains a compound represented by the following formula 1. Where each of R1 to R14 are, independently, hydrogen atom, alkyl group of 1 to 10 carbon atoms, arylalkyl group of 6 to 20 carbon atoms, aryl group of 6 to 30 carbon atoms, arylamino group of 6 to 30 carbon atoms, alkylamino group of 2 to 20 cabon atoms, or arylalkylamino group of 6 to 30 carbon atoms, and may be substituted. Also, at least one pair of groups adjacent to each other in R1 to R14 is other than hydrogen atom, and forms a cyclic structure.
