PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize service capable of providing a desired piece of information without troubling a user. SOLUTION: This information providing system 30 consisting of plural retrieval agents 31.1 to 31.n is constructed in a mail server 22 of a server system 20. In each retrieval agent, retrieval conditions are set for a retrieval request instructed by an electronic mail of the user based on information of a user profile server 27, its result is made into an electronic mail and transmitted to an information acquisition system of a terminal of the user. The user can obtain the desired piece of information without being troubled since the retrieval conditions corresponding to the retrieval request are generated on the side of the server only by making the simple retrieval request into mail.
