PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a merchandise sales registered data processor to efficiently make advertisement, etc., to customers by using easily visible pictures, particularly, moving pictures. SOLUTION: A merchandise sales registered data processor is provided with a picture displaying section which displays a picture to customers and a picture reproducing means which allows the picture displaying section to display the picture by reproducing picture data. The processor discriminates whether or not one customer is in the course of registering a purchasing commodity and allows the picture reproducing means to reproduce the picture data when the processor discriminates that the customer is in the course. In addition, the processor also discriminates whether or not the registration of the commodity to be purchased by the customer is started and, when the processor discriminates that the registration is started, allows the picture reproducing means to once stop its picture reproducing work and the picture data to be reproduced from the forefront of the data.
