PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an image blur by the accumulation of NOx on the surface of an image carrying member and to achieve the longer life of the image carrying member. SOLUTION: A humidity sensor 36 for detecting the humidity near the surface of a photoreceptor 6 is disposed near the photoreceptor 6 and a lubricant supplying means 34 is controlled in accordance with the detected humidity. When the detected humidity is off a range of the prescribed humidity (a range where there is no accumulation of low-resistance materials or even if there is such accumulation, image quality deterioration does not occur), the control to raise the coefficient of friction on the surface of the photoreceptor 6 is carried out and when the detected humidity is within the range of the prescribed humidity, the control to lower the coefficient of friction on the surface of the photoreceptor 6 is carried out. |
