PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule, which makes it easy to bring fibers into contact with each others without projecting optical fiber endts from the front of the ferrule, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This ferrule has a ferrule body (12) having a front surface (14) and a rear surface (16) which facing in the opposite directions and the ferrule body has at least one optical fiber hole (18) extending between the front and rear surfaces. It is advantageous that the center part of the front surface where at least an optical fiber hole is open projects out from a certain place of the peripheral edge part of the front surface. Thus, the front surface is so designed that the front surface center part projects out from the front surface peripheral edge part and then when respective fiber optical contactors are connected, none of the angle error of the front peripheral edge part, and dust and other particles settling at the front peripheral edge part impedes the contacting of a couple of ferrule front center parts. In the mentioned case, an optical fiber end part need not extend large even when it should extend from the ferrule front surface so as to establish the contacting between the fibers and when the front extends large, the force applied to all the fibers can be absorbed by the ferrule to some extent.
