PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of preventing a toner cartridge from being erroneously exchanged by recognizing a situation that residual toner amount is erroneously detected, and then preventing the toner from being wastefully used, whereby an image can be formed while saving the toner. SOLUTION: In the case of detecting the residual toner amount based on an optically generated detection signal used to detect the residual toner amount in a toner storing chamber for storing the toner before use, processing to cope with erroneous detection is performed (step S29) by deciding that the decrease in the toner is erroneously detected when a period in which the detection signal is at a low level is a period in which it cannot be outputted at the time of normal operation (step S21; Y or S22; Y). |
