PURPOSE:To appropriately operate a printing means of a printing head even at low temperatures and prevent lowering in printing quality or troubles in printing from occurring, by outputting a voltage higher than a normal voltage to a printing driving part when a control signal indicating that the temperature of the printing head is lower than a reference temperature is outputted from a power source controlling part. CONSTITUTION:A temperature-detecting part 16 connected to a printing head 10 comprises a temperature sensor 16A and a temperature-detecting circuit 16B. The temperature sensor 16A outputs information corresponding to the temperature of the head 10, and the circuit 16B converts the information into an electrical signal. A second controlling circuit 2B compares the electrical signal with a reference voltage corresponding to a reference temperature, and outputs a predetermined control signal SC to a printing driving power source part 4. A voltage supplied to driving coils for printing pins or the like in a head-driving circuit (printing driving part) 8 is switched between two levels, as required, by the power source part 4. A power source voltage is set to a lower voltage under the condition where the temperature of the printing head 10 is equivalent to the reference temperature and printing characteristics are favorable. The power source voltage is set to a higher voltage under the condition where the temperature of the head 10 is lower than the reference temperature and the printing characteristics are liable to be deteriorated. |
