DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ATM TRANSMISSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain integrity of communication data by switching a cell processor from an active system to a standby system with no hit and accordingly preventing the occurrence of the cutoff of communication to a communication path of a fixed speed. SOLUTION: A cell processor 105 of a standby system which transmits a cell to a cell processor 101 of the opposite side via an ATM switch 102 in an active/standby system constitution detects the SN value of the cell, that is transmitted from a cell processor 104 of a working system at the end of a system switching mode and also detects the end of data stored in the cell. Then the cell of the next SN value of the detected SN value is assembled by means of the holding data received from a communication path 108 of a fixed speed and corresponding to the data following the detected end of the data, and then the assembled cell is transmitted.
