PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a facsimile terminal to inquire for the number of received items of received documents from specific opposite parties and received documents to specific recipients. SOLUTION: Condition setting or the like in the case of inquiry through remote control is set in advance. When a call signal is received from a channel and accepted (YES in S1), a facsimile terminal receives the signal (S2). When the signal cannot be normally received (NO in S3), a counter for inquiring for the number of received items is not counted. When the signal is normally received (YES in S3) and telephone number information of a destination of a inquiry destination is registered (YES in S4), a caller number information by a caller number notice is received (YES in S5). In the case that the registered number and the received number are coincident (YES in S6), the counter is incremented by one (S15). When the caller number information is not received (NO in S5) and TSI information is received (YES in S7) and the registered number is coincident with the received TSI information (YES in S8), the counter is incremented by one (S15).
