PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting a rectifying effect generated in a discharge lamp. SOLUTION: A circuit for lighting a discharge lamp comprises a half bridge inverter T1, T2, A followed by a load circuit LD, CR, half bridge condenser CK, and monitoring circuit for monitoring a voltage drop of the half bridge condenser CK generated by a rectifying effect in the discharge lamp LP. The monitoring circuit includes a first RC circuit R1, C1 connected through a threshold switch DC with a second RC circuit R2, C2, and means for detecting the switching state of the threshold switch DC. The first RC circuit R1, C1 is connected to the intermediate point of the half bridge inverter, and the second RC circuit R2, C2 to the half bridge condenser CK. |
