PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a lens barrier from being inadvertently opened when a camera with a lens barrier is not used. SOLUTION: The lens barrier 13 is provided to freely move between an opening position where it opens the aperture of the front of the camera so as to expose a photographing lens when the camera is used and a closing position where it closes the aperture so as to protect the photographing lens when the camera is not used. A ring gear 18 transmitting rotational force from a motor and a barrier driving gear 26 engaged with the gear 18 and driving the barrier 13 through a coil spring 41 are provided at the rear of the barrier 13. A pin 13b is provided on the back of the barrier 13. When the camera is not used, the internal wall of the gear 18 abuts on the pin 13b and regulates the turning of the barrier 13. Then, a recessed part 18f is formed on the front of the gear 18. When the barrier 13 is turned by the driving of the motor, the recessed part 18f comes to the moving path of the pin 13b, so that the regulation of the barrier 13 is released.
