PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the back-up processing of data held in a magnetic disk without stopping a service. SOLUTION: When access from a host computer 10 is performed during the back-up processing of data held in a magnetic disk 3, the newer data of the magnetic disk 3 or a cache memory 4 are transmitted in response to a request for reading data, and the data are temporarily held in the cache memory 4 in response to a request for writing data.
