PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient device which can easily and surely show the remaining recording capacity of an information recording medium and also can be easily reset in its original state when the recorded contents are erased. SOLUTION: This display device shows the remaining recording capacity of an information recording medium 1 that is inserted into a disk drive 5 to record the information. The display device consists of a display means which has a mark plate 2 to show the remaining capacity of information of the medium 1, a moving means 4 which moves the plate 2 in a prescribed direction according to the remaining recording capacity of information and a control means which controls the moving quantity of the means 4. Then the plate 2 of the display means is moved by the means 4 and under the control of the control means to show the remaining quantity of information of the medium 1.
