SOLUTION: The digital reproduction signal processing unit is provided with an A/D converter 4 that samples an analog reproduction signal for a period longer than a digital recording channel rate and converts the analog signal into a low rate digital reproduction for a period longer than the recording channel rate, a coefficient setting device 6 that applies digital filtering to the low rate digital reproduction signal without changing the low rate to generate a digital equalization signal, an interpolation unit 7 that interpolates the reproduced data at the digital recording channel rate, and a half rate Viterbi decoder 8 that outputs data.
