PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a recording operation with a possibility that a buffer underrun occurs in the middle of the recording of information to a recording medium. SOLUTION: A host computer 2 transfers test data to an optical disk drive 1 before transferring data to be recorded to an optical disk 2, and increases the execution priority of a task transferring the mentioned data when informed by the optical disk drive 1 that the recording can not be performed. The optical disk drive 1, on the other hand, receives the test data transferred from the host computer 3, measures the speed of the information transfer from the host computer 2 according to the test data, and compares the information transfer speed with the speed of information recording to the optical disk 20, thereby informing the host computer 2 that the recording is impossible when judging that the information transfer speed is not faster than the information recording speed.
