PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floppy disk and a magnetic recording system with high recording density. SOLUTION: The floppy disk is constituted such that a ferromagnetic metallic thin film, a protective film and a lubricating film are laminated on both sides of a flexible non-magnetic support and that minute projections having a diameter of 30-200 nm and a height of 10-70 nm are provided on the surface at a density of 1-100 pieces per one squareμm; and the magnetic recording system is such that both front and rear sides of the floppy disk are held between magnetic head arms provided with a slider each of which has an MR head at the tip end and that, while the floppy disk is rotated at the number of revolution of 2,000 rpm or higher, a slider is made to run with the floppy disk for recording and reproduction.
