PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving distance detector to preclude a micro output amplitude from acting as an error factor. SOLUTION: This detector is composed of a monitoring means set in an immovable site and a radio wave reflecting means serving as a moving detecting object. The monitoring means is provided with a transmission means for transmitting a radio wave (wavelengthλ) to the radio wave reflecting means, the first reception means for receiving the reflected radio wave, the first mixer means for combining the transmitted wave with the received wave in the first reception means, the first level detecting means for detecting a displacement withinλ/4 of the radio wave reflecting means as a change of a combined wave output amplitude, the second reception means arranged to be shifted byλ/2 along a receiving direction with respect to the first reception means, the second mixer means for combining the transmitted wave and the received wave in the second reception means, the second level detecting means for detecting the displacement withinλ/4 of the radio wave reflecting means as the change of the combined wave output amplitude, and a comparison means for transmitting a rough moving quantity signal in inversion timing of respective outputs from the first and second reception means, and for transmitting a fine moving quantity signal based on a difference between the both.
