PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and equipment for detecting an electronic component, which can correctly detect the state of an electronic component by preventing erroneous detection caused by stains by an optical noise, such as dust, when picking up an image of the electronic component by a line sensor, etc. SOLUTION: An electronic component detector IV picks up the images of a vacuum- chucking nozzle 14, and an electronic component A chucked by the chucking nozzle 14 as objects for image pick-up by a line sensor 55, and detects the position of the lower end of the electronic component A from the output in the vertical direction. The detector IV comprises a storage means 54, an acquiring means 51, and a detection means 52. The state where an object to be imaged does not exists is picked up by the line sensor 55, and the output of the line sensor 55 is stored in the storage means 54. The line sensor 55 picks up the images of the chucking nozzle 14 and the electronic component a chucked by the chucking nozzle 14, and the output of the line sensor 55 is obtained by the acquisition means 51. The detection means 52 performs computation, based on the results obtained by the storage means 54 and the acquisition means 51 to detect the position of the lower end of the electronic component. |
