PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent disadvantage to a buyer and further to clearly display whether the machine is operating or not. SOLUTION: This machine is provided with a stroke member 60 which can be moved with a stroke thicker than a character card C along the laminating direction of this character card C and can be moved forward and backward from the side to an article storage area 52, an engaging member 56 for regulating the stroke movement to a lower layer by engaging the said stroke member 60 when the said stroke member 60 is moved backward from the said article storage area 52 at a prescribed upper end position but for allowing the stroke movement to the lower layer with dead weight by disengaging the said stroke member 60 when the stroke member is moved forward to the said article storage area 52, a pressing spring 63 for energizing the said stroke member 60 so as to move it forward to the said article storage area 52 at all the time, and a display plate 23 for moving with the movement of the said stroke member 60 and performing the switching display of whether the machine is operating or not.
